Year-Round Pumpkin Spice Syrup for Fall Flavors

I don’t know about you, but I’m obsessed with everything Halloween! From the leaves getting crispy on the ground to the cool air that signals the change of seasons and the fun farmers markets brimming with seasonal goodies, it really is the best time of the year for many reasons. The sights and sounds of autumn evoke a sense of nostalgia, and every corner seems to hold a little festive magic as pumpkins adorn doorsteps and playful decorations hang from trees. What I find particularly annoying, however, is that you can only get the best fall foods during this brief period, which makes enjoying those comforting flavors feel a bit like a race against time. So, why not give you a recipe that you can rely on year-round to get that warm, fuzzy feeling of fall? Whether it’s a cozy soup or delightful baked treats, this comforting syrup can bring a taste of autumn to your table no matter the season, allowing you to savour those cherished flavours and memories whenever you desire.

Let’s get cooking!

This is very easy to make, but I wanna preface by saying that the hard part really lies in watching the syrup closely as it cooks. If you happen to overcook it and notice that it starts to get lumpy, don’t stress too much about it; there’s a simple solution. Just start adding back a tablespoon of water at a time, stirring gently after each addition until the syrup returns to the smooth and glossy texture that you desire. Remember, patience is key in this process, and with careful attention, you can achieve the perfect syrup consistency!

  1. Combine all ingredients into a pot and turn on heat to medium high.
  2. stir consistently till it becomes hot and melts together. At this point you should see steam coming from the syrup.
  3. Keep stirring till it boils and immediately bring off heat and keep stirring till it begins to cool down and stops bubbling.
  4. Once again watch for consistency, cook longer for a thicker texture, add more water for a runnier consistency. Syrup may look slightly gelatinous, don’t stress its a natural reaction from the pumpkin and will melt into your coffee.
  5. When syrup cools, drain into air tight container, can use a strainer for a silkier texture or leave as is. I personally leave as is, I don’t notice a difference.

Enjoy! Store for 1 week in the fridge.
